The US President shared a picture in which AI portrayed him as a pope, which caused a criticism of his arrogance.

Just a week after participation in the funeral of Pope Francis in the Vatican, the US President on his social network shared a picture of himself as the head of the Catholic Church. It was created by artificial intelligence (AI), TASR writes according to DPA and AFP.

Trump on an artificial picture sits in white papal clothing with a golden cross hung on his neck, has a gold -embroidered white mitra on his head and shows the right forefinger up. The viral photo was also shared by the White House on the X Network. Critics described this in the discussion as a childish manifestation of boundless arrogance.

Trump’s papal ambitions

This week, the US President was joking himself with journalists on the question of whom he wanted to replace Francis: “I would like to be the Pope, that would be my choice number one.”

He also said he wouldn’t favor anyone, but in New York there is a cardinal that is “very good”. It seemed to be in mind the charismatic Archbishop of New York Timothy Dolan. Cardinals will meet 7 May at the Conclave in the Sistine Chapel to elect a new Pope.

Catholics in the US

The funeral of Pope Francis in the Vatican was the first Trump’s foreign trip from returning to power. Catholics are about 20 percent of Americans and opinion polls in November indicated that it was supported by about 60 percent of them.

Pope Francis was one of the strongest moral voices that criticized Trump. In his first candidacy in 2016, when he promised to build a wall on the border with Mexico, Francis told reporters: “Anyone who wants to build walls and not bridges is not a Christian.”
