The Brazilians Caio Bonfim and Viviane Lyra secured a place on the podium in the 20 km race of the athletic march held on Sunday (4) in Warsaw, Poland. The competition is part of the World Circuit of the sport.
He won the silver medal with a time of 1h21min34s, behind only the Japanese Yamanishi Toshikazu, who led the race from start to finish. This was the fourth medal of the Brazilian in five competitions in the season. He had already won the bronze in Kobe, Japan, the gold at the Brazil Cup in Sao Paulo and Rio Maior. In the women’s race, Viviane Lyra took the bronze with a time of 1h28min54s. Ecuadorian Paula Milena Torres got the gold, surpassing for just a hundredth the Peruvian Kimberly García León, who got the silver. Lyra was among the leaders until 15 km and finished the race at 0.25 seconds of the champion.
