In Hungary they warn all those who go to visit Spain to review their 50 euros tickets (but not necessary)

A few weeks ago, a false news toured the Internet stating that the 50 euro ticket would be removed from the circulation in Spain from April and caused a stir. Proof of this are the news that echoed this bulle.

The Hungarian medium It has been one of these media, and affirmed in an article that some 50 -euro bills cease to be in circulation for being “damaged” and that the Bank of Spain recommends “that 50 euros damages damaged in shops or for payments between individuals” are not accepted, which the entity has denied.

From the European Central Bank (ECB) they communicated the following: “Neither the Bank of Spain nor any other central bank of the Eurozone has ordered the withdrawal of any tickets or currency in euros. All tickets in euros remain valid and are in circulation.”

The Bank of Spain issued at the beginning of April an alert in which it indicated that it has not ordered to withdraw any tickets, thus demonstrating information from “some digital media” for several days, as pointed out in a statement. “All euro tickets can continue to be used normally and will not lose their value,” the institution stressed.

The Bank of Spain explained that, as part of its daily operation, it examines all tickets and coins in circulation and that the authenticity and aptitude of all tickets that return to credit entities are checked. Those who do not have an adequate state of use are destroyed and replaced by others in good condition. Those who are in good condition remain in circulation.

“This usual procedure does not affect a single denomination of bills. The Bank of Spain applies the same criteria to maintain quality standards in all tickets, from 5 to 200 euros,” said the issuer.

In any case, Banco de España recalled that a deteriorated ticket does not lose its value. If you go to the Bank of Spain with more than half of the original surface of the ticket, it can be exchanged for another in good condition. Also if it can be demonstrated that the missing part, despite not being majority, has been destroyed.

“One of the reasons why you try to keep the tickets in an adequate state of use is to easily check their security elements. Although the tickets are manufactured to ensure their durability, most of them deteriorate as a result of their usual use, by the passage of time,” he said.
