Chinese automaker’s industrial complex was inaugurated in 2023 in the city of Zhengzhou and produced 545,000 vehicles in 2024
Estimates its factory in Zhengzhou, in Henan province, will reach the ability to produce 1 million vehicles in 2025. The Chinese company’s industrial plant, inaugurated in 2023, already operates in a production pace of 3,000 cars a day. Last year, the installation delivered 545,000 vehicles to the Chinese or export domestic markets.
The factory was assembled in 17 months, considering the entire process of approval of the place and start of construction. The works began in April 2022 and the installation delivered its 1st model – a Song Pro – in February 2023. The ambitious Chinese project is not limited to a factory, but it looks like a city. BYD has built a complex for its employees’ housing and houses about 60,000 people.
According to the magazine specializing in the automotive sector Four wheelsthe industrial complex is 130 km² –maior than the urban areas of Brazilian capital such as Boa Vista (RR) and Macapá (AP). It is the largest electric vehicle assembly project in the world.
In addition to being spacious, the BYD factory is also modern, with machines working at an intense pace. When visiting the installation, you can see that the mechanical arms do almost all the work of assembling the bodies.
Human workers in the assembly wake acts on roles such as the installation of doors – the machines are not yet able to do this process – and the direction of vehicles ready for factories parking, where they will undergo some tests.

All cars manufactured by Zhengzhou installation by 2025 are equipped with autonomous direction, ie they can drive alone. However, Chinese traffic laws still do not allow cars to be totally autonomous.
In the streets of China, it is possible to use the car in autonomous function, but it is necessary that the driver of the vehicle is sitting in the front seat. In the future, if Chinese authorities update the rules, the use will be possible with the owners sitting in the back seat of the vehicle.
The cheapest car produced at the factory can be purchased for $ 10,000.

Batteries
BYD industrial complex in Zhengzhou also includes a section where electric cars batteries are worked out. The type used in the most affordable of the brand weighs 239 kg, with autonomy of 300 km and supports about 5,000 recharging cycles.
The most powerful in the factory is over 700 km of autonomy. BYD has also made advances to reduce loading time. To the Poder360a company representative said it was possible to charge a battery in about 5 minutes in tests performed by the company.
The batteries are the heart of the brand, which started as a manufacturer of these devices. In 1995, the company had an annual revenue of approximately $ 300,000. Last year, it registered an annual revenue of $ 107 billion.
BYD has entered the automakers’ world in 2013 and is currently the largest manufacturer of electric vehicles on the planet. In 2024, 7 out of 10 electric cars sold in Brazil were from the Chinese brand.
