The theft of cable at four different points between Madrid and Seville is causing strong delays this Sunday in rail connections between both cities. As explained in a message on social network X the incidence affects more than 6,300 travelers in 18 trains. The fault coincides with the return of the Labor Day bridge in Madrid and with the beginning, next week, of the April Fair in Seville.
The Minister of Transportation, has also communicated the incident in his X account. According to his explanations, the theft of cable affects four different kilometers, in the municipalities of Madridejos, Mora, Urda and Orgaz, both in the province of Toledo. The minister has defined the event as “a serious act of sabotage” and that the trains affection will be “very serious.” It has also indicated that the Civil Guard investigates the facts.

“We are strengthening information, trying to provide time forecasts, distributing food and drink, reinforcing stations staff and working to mobilize the greatest number of trains in these conditions of degraded circulation,” added the president of RENFE.
Adif, on the other hand, has indicated in his X account that they work to repair the incidence. And that their security patrols, together with the Civil Guard, work to document the matter and file a complaint.
Railway Infrastructure Administrator sources indicate Efe that the theft has been detected at 17.45 and estimate that, in total, about 300 meters of cable have been stolen within a 10 kilometers. These same sources have affirmed that, as soon as the incidence has been detected, equipment has been displaced to replace the cable, although they have added that the repair is complicated since, although the stolen have been 300 meters of cable, there have been small subtractions in various parts of the line, which have caused serious damage to the security systems of the line.
Renfe has announced a suspension of the railway service since 22.00 between the Toledo localities of Yeles and La Sagra. As reported in its X account, six high -speed trains circulate with delays greater than 60 minutes.
