Voters from the southern Texas gave Elon Musk a decisive victory, overwhelmingly approving a measure to establish Starbase, Texas, as an independent city.
With a margin of 212 to 6, residents of the remote community around the Spacex rocket launch base and headquartered in favor of the incorporation effort, according to the results published on the County Election website. At the same time, voters also approved the first elected officers of the city, all three of whom are current or former Spacex employees and competed without opposition.
Virtually every inhabitants of the 3.76 square kilometers are musk employees in the huge factory that dominates the coastal city, or its family members.
The incorporation does not give Musk Carta Branca to adopt any regulations you want, but will give the company a unique authority to define the pace of its own development in the area. The new city commission will have an authority on zoning, construction projects and other everyday aspects of life.
Over the past seven years, Spacex has transformed the area known as Boca Chica, changing the former retirees community into a prosperous production site for the development of the powerful Starship rocket, the vehicle with which Musk expects to realize his longtime dream to start a human colony on Mars.
However, Spacex authorities say the company failed to provide enough housing for hundreds of workers who want to live close to their headquarters. A recent attempt to build more apartments was rejected by the county. About 260 Spacex employees live on the southern end of Texas; Its partners and family members raise the total population to close to 500. Another 3,100 workers move from Brownsville, the largest nearby city or other locations.

The city resembles, in some places, a science fiction film scenario with futuristic facilities, almost identical -oriented rows and a huge musk bronze bust.
