Finland will receive about 6,500 soldiers for military exercises designed to reinforce defense capabilities.

The exercises, Northern Strike 125 and Northern Star 25, aim in northern Finland with NATO allies, according to the Finnish army.

Exercises focus on developing the ability to plan and perform multinational land operations in the northern areas, as well as improving the joint use of fire, leadership, recognition and awareness of the situation by allies.

“This exercise complex is a logical continuation of previous years exercises to develop skills together with our allies,” said Lieutenant Colonel Jukka Vuorisalmi, director of the year.

About 900 Swedish and 350 British soldiers joining the Finnish forces. The British contingent will carry APACHE combat helicopters and an MLRS battery.

“The British combat helicopter unit and the MLRS battery make a significant contribution to the development of joint fire planning and implementation,” said Vuorisalimi.

The Northern Star 25 will involve a combat exercise with simulator assistance. Jaeger’s infantry shooting exercise will also be part of the training schedule.

The Finnish Air Force will support air operations during the combat phase, from May 16 to 30, 2025. Drones will also be used and movement restrictions in space will be implemented.
