Former President Michel Temer said the Supreme Court (STF) should make a dosage of penalties to people involved in the attacks on January 8. The statement was made during an interview with the “Canal Livre” program, Bandwhen asked about the amnesty proposal to the convicts. The full interview will air today at 8:30 pm.
“I think the most useful would be that the Federal Supreme Court itself would make a new dosage of the penalties. Because it was not just an aggression to public buildings, it was aggression to powers,” he said in a stretch released by the station.
Asked about criticism of STF intervention in the role of other powers, Temer replied that it is not the fault of the court. “When everyone tells me the Supreme now if it gets into all the questions. But it is not the fault of the Supreme, the fault was the constituent. We brought everything to the constitutional text. And so everything will end up in the Supreme Court,” he said.
Temer assessed that it would be difficult to modify the constitutional text and stated that it will be necessary to work with the current reality. On the other hand, it recognized the importance that no power exceeds the limits of the competences of the others.
He also said that if he were currently president, he would act to implement the semi -presential government system. Temer added that the country needs effective programs to face basic problems, such as education and public safety.
