The Australian Labor Anthony Albanese He swore on Tuesday in Australia For a second three -year term, which starts with a continuous cabinet after a historical victory in the general elections of May 3.

Albanese, 62, and his cabinet of ministers took possession at a ceremony at the headquarters of the Government in Cambberra, after on the eve the prime minister presented his new cabinet, in which the main ministers continue in office.

Richard Marles will continue to the defense front and as vice president; Penny Wong remains as head of diplomacy; Jim Chalmers continues as treasurer and finance minister; Don Farrell, in commerce; And Tony Burke is still inside.

Anthony Albanese made history by becoming the first Labor leader to be re -elected in 21 years.

The Labor Party won forcefully during the elections of May 3, despite the fact that the surveys predicted a fighter struggle.

With about 85 % of the scrutinized vote ten days after the elections, the Labor ensures 93 seats at the moment, well above the absolute majority, set at 76, while the liberal-national coalition obtains 42, in a representative chamber with 150 seats.

For his part, the conservative Liberal Party of Australia elected Tuesday as a new leader to Susan Law, 63, who replaces Peter Dutton and becomes the first woman to direct the formation, after the electoral defeat.

Dutton’s strategy, compared in his country with the US president, Donald Trump, for some of his proposals, seemed to work and allowed him to lead the surveys until the end of 2024, when, according to analysts, his possibilities were weighed by the tariff policy of Washington, among other factors.

Albanese will visit Indonesia, his first official trip after his re -election, and will attend the Mass at the beginning of the Pontificate of Leo XIV in the Plaza de San Pedro del Vaticano.
