Beware of the fridge

In an effort to keep strawberries as long as possible, we often simply store them in the coldest place in the fridge. That’s what this appliance is, isn’t it? But this time it’s not quite true. These fruits require a much more sophisticated approach, but if we understand them, we will have won. Let us learn to treat strawberries with respect for their demands.

Don’t miss strawberries, it’s a mistake

The first of many mistakes that many of us regularly commit are the pursuit of as much hygiene as possible. For this reason, we prefer to wash all fruits and vegetables immediately after coming home. What if someone in the family wanted to marry a piece, didn’t they? Let us remember, however, that we must never have strawberries in advance, but it is always necessary to clean them just before consumption or before other processing.

Out of the box

The first thing we should do when we bring strawberries home (if they are bought) is their unpacking from the transport plastic tray. In such a package of strawberries, they will start to mold very soon, and that would be a great pity.

Don’t spare napkins

Even if you can move strawberries again into a plastic box, you always need to unload it, for example, with a paper towel or a napkin. Such a simple procedure will help keep strawberries dry, which is one of the main prerequisites for their longer durability. If you cannot store them in only one layer, intersect at least with each paper. Then never close the box in which you have carefully stored the strawberries, then never close completely, because their other requirements are air access.

Now we know how to store strawberries, but where will it really be right? If you do not have a cold pantry repair that suits them the most (on a cold stone or paved floor), you can use the refrigerator, but choose a place where the temperature is the highest, ie the least cold shelf, or in a vegetable compartment. Certainly these fruits do not belong to the shelves along with meat or dairy products. They need more cold.

Learn the strawberries correctly

If you decide not to consume strawberries in a few days, there is still one more option to keep them for a long time – and of course it is a freezer. Take the pieces well to store only the really intact, wash the selected, remove the green parts and dry well. Then unfold them on the shelf for quick freezing, and once they are a stone, you can fall them into the bag and store it to (not eternal but long) rest. You just thank you in winter.
