Magistrate repressed defense of former Justice Minister Anderson Torres, who repeated questions to former Army commander Freire Gomes in a testimony about attempted coup
The Minister of (Supreme Federal Court) Alexandre de Moraes said on Monday (19.MAI.2025) that would not allow the defense of the former Minister of Justice to transform into “circus” The testimony of prosecution witnesses in the event of the attempted coup in 2022.
Lawyer Eumar Novacki repeatedly asked the former Army Commander Freire Gomes about the so-called “scam draft,” which was reportedly presented by (PL) at meetings with Armed Forces commanders. He wanted to know the military if the document, which, according to the PGR (Attorney General’s Office) was found at the Torres House during the investigations, was the same as the former president.
“The Lord has asked the same question 4 times and the witness was very clear […] I will not allow your landlord to circle in my court […] You can’t try to induce the witness ”Moraes declared, annoyed.
The defense of Torres sought to detach the former minister of drafting the decree that would establish the institutional rupture through the state of siege or by guaranteeing the law and order.
Minutes earlier, however, Moraes had already repressed Freire Gomes, who softened the version of his testimony to the PF (Federal Police) about the adhesion of Navy Commander Almir Garnier, to the attempt to blow. The Admiral is one of the group’s defendants.
“The witness cannot omit what he knows. He lied to the police, has to say he lied in the police. You can’t, in the face of the Supreme Court, say you don’t remember. I ask that before answering think well ”said Moraes.

The former army commander was nominated by the PGR as a witness of prosecution at the trial for coup attempt in 2022. The 1st Panel of the Supreme Court (Supreme Court) began the testimonies of Nucleus 1 on Monday (19.MAI).
The hearings are performed by video conferencing and there will be no official transmission.
The press accompanied through a big screen installed in the 1st class room of the STF. But journalists were prohibited from making any kind of recording.
They are part of core 1, in addition to former President Jair Bolsonaro:

In all, 81 witnesses must be heard. Among the names are former commanders of the Armed Forces Marco Antonio Freire Gomes (Army) and Carlos de Almeida Baptista Júnior (Aeronautics), as well as the governor of São Paulo, Tarcisio de Freitas (Republicans).
