The news was confirmed by his press officer in a statement on behalf of the family.
“Dear actor and comedian George Wendt, better known for being part of NBC’s successful comedy, ‘Cheers’, died. George’s family confirmed the news of his death on Tuesday morning,” reads in the statement quoted by People.
According to the family, the ator “He died in peace while sleeping at his house.”
“George was a dedicated family man, a dear and confident friend of all those who were fortunate to meet him. We will always miss you,” says the note.
