An unexpected gesture on the way out of the plane caught the attention during Emmanuel Macron’s arrival at Vietname on Monday for an official visit. The scene, filmed by the Associated Press, shows Brigitte Macron apparently pushing her husband’s face when she turns to say something, causing a moment of visible discomfort. The French president reacts with surprise, but quickly recovers the composure and waves to the waiting entourage.
Although the Elisha Palace initially questioned the authenticity of the images, their veracity has been confirmed by various French media. According to the BFMTV jail, which cites a source close to the president, it was all a “small quarrel, something common among couples.”
After the embarrassing moment, the couple headed towards the plane’s stairs. Macron reached out to his wife in a courteous gesture, but Brigitte chose to hold on to the railing without corresponding to the invitation.
