Azul filed a request for judicial recovery in the United States on Wednesday (28), and the process can raise questions to consumers, especially those who have tickets purchased by the airline.
When questioned by CNNAzul said that “the operation continues normally” and passengers will not be affected.
The relevant fact released by the company to investors on Wednesday reinforces that customers will have honored tickets, as well as the points of blue loyalty and the benefits maintained.
“The company will continue to fly, operating normally and maintaining its commitments throughout the restructuring period.”
Fernando Canutto, a specialist in Business Law and partner of Goodke Advogados, pointed out that it is low the risk of having some flight cancellation of the company due to the request for judicial recovery.
“I cannot say that it is impossible, but it is highly unlikely that there is immediate impact. Most airlines continue to honor reservations during the restructuring process,” said the lawyer.
The expert considers that the scenario would be another case the company decreed bankruptcy, when it is considered financially irrecoverable and has severe consequences to honor the payment to creditors, such as the sale of assets and the closure of activities.
“Unlike bankruptcy, which usually implies the company’s liquidation, Chapter 11 allows the company to continue operating while restructuring its debts. It is an attempt to save the company and avoid bankruptcy,” explained Canutto.
