The National Congress of Brazil will be the stage of the 11th edition of the Parliamentary Forum, which will take place from 3 to 5 June. This event of great importance will gather delegations from group member countries, including South Africa, China, Ethiopia, United Arab Emirates, India, Indonesia, Iran, Egypt, Russia, and Brazil. In addition to the members, the Forum will be attended by representatives of BRICS partner countries, such as Belarus, Bolivia, Cuba, Nigeria and Kazakhstan. Due to the bicameral system of some countries, the number of delegations confirmed so far is at least 18, surpassing the number of nations represented. The Novo Development Bank will participate virtually, reinforcing the importance of the event.
BRICS, composed of 11 countries, is a Forum of Political-Diplomatic Articulation and Cooperation of the Global South. This annual meeting is seen as a crucial step in consolidating interparlation cooperation among member countries. The event reaffirms the commitment of legislative powers to the strengthening of political dialogue, the exchange of good practices and the construction of a common agenda focused on sustainable development, social justice and multilateral governance. Although the forum’s official opening is scheduled for Wednesday, the program will start on Tuesday with two parallel meetings. One of them will be the meeting of the presidents of the BRICS parliament foreign commissions and the other will be the meeting of BRICS parliamentary women.
