Secretary of the Russian Security Council Sergei Šojga arrived in Pyongyang on Wednesday, where the DPRK leader Kim Jong-ununa is to meet. This is the second visit to Šojga in Pyongyang in just over two months, which points to the deepening relations between Russia and North Korea. Šojga and Kim in Pyongyang also negotiated on 21 March. In negotiations, which lasted approximately two hours, Šojga and Kim discussed questions about Ukraine and the beginning of the dialogue between Russia and the United States.
During the current visit, “the implementation of some points of the comprehensive strategic partnership between the Russian Federation and the DPRK are expected to discuss the implementation of some points.” They should also assess the international agenda, including the situation related to Ukraine. In addition, Šojga also has a “honor of Korean fighters who have helped to liberate the Kursk region”.
