At least 24 countries totally suspended imports of Brazilian chicken meat, while another 13 restricted purchases from Rio Grande do Sul. Some nations, such as Japan, limited purchases to regions outside a radius of 10 kilometers from the focus.

Even with the measures, Fávaro minimized the economic effects: “The impact is practically zero,” said the minister, indicating that the protocols are part of international health agreements and are already being negotiated with the partners.

According to a monitoring panel of the Ministry of Agriculture, there are still 11 suspected cases under investigation.
