Spain advanced to the nations league final in a very busy match at the Mercedes-Benz Arena in Stuttgart on Thursday night (5). The team scored the first four goals of the duel with France and gave the impression that it would set a rout, but eventually triumphed 5-4.
After an unlikely suffocation in the final minutes, the national team led by Lamine Yamal, 17, survived. On Sunday (8), he will face the Portugal team at 16h (Brasilia) at Allianz Arena in Munich. Earlier, at 10am, Germany and France will compete for third place in Stuttgart.
Author of two goals in the confrontation, Yamal will have a chance to win his second trophy by the national team after the Euro title last year. Nico Williams, Mikel Merino and Pedri also shook the French network.
World champion in 2018 and winner of the 2020/21 Nations League, Mbappé did his best to have a chance to fight for his third trophy, but France’s reaction began late. He himself scored the first goal of his penalty team at 14 of the second half, when Spain won 4-0.
Then Cherki, Daniel Vivian and Kolo Muani, the latter already in additions, also left their marks on the scoreboard. In the end, Spain managed to hold the advantage until the end.
Now Spain and Portugal will fight to become the first two -time tournament country, which is in its fourth edition. The Portuguese won the first, in the 2018/19 season, and the Spaniards won the last one in 2022/23. France also dreamed of BI after the 2020/21 trophy.
On Wednesday (5), Portugal secured his place in the decision by beating Germany, 2-1, with goals from Cristiano Ronaldo and Francisco Conceição.
