Jurists process US Attorney General for alleged political bias

Jurists coalition maintains that the conduct of Bondi violates the rules of the Bar Association and the internal regulations of the Department of Justice

A coalition of 70 lawyers, former judges and law professors at the Florida Supreme Court filed a complaint against United States Attorney General Pam Bondi for allegedly violating her ethical commitment to maintain political neutrality.

The complaint, submitted this Thursday to the Bar, claims that Bondi tried to coerce lawyers of the Justice Department, under threat of dismissal or sanctions, if they did not “zealously fulfill the political objectives of the president” USA Donald Trump, according to the Miami Herald newspaper.

The jurist coalition maintains that Bondi’s conduct violates the rules of the Bar Association and the internal regulations of the Justice Department.

The newspaper also states that the lawyers recall that the Florida Lawyers Order recently rejected two previous complaints of Bondi ethics violation, for “not investigating and sued appointed employees under the US Constitution while they were in office.”

However, the coalition argues that “the rejection of the flowering bar is not supported by history or precedents” and that none of its rules exempt from scrutiny a lawyer licensed in Florida, even if he performs duties as a federal civil servant, herald added.

The Department of Justice responded to the complaint, through a statement sent to Herald, in which he indicated that the Order has twice rejected the attempts of these lawyers to “use the order complaint against the attorney general as a weapon.”
