Without having been able to get projects capable of competing with the visibility of following crises throughout the year, government members () speak again to expand the president’s exhibition, in yet another communication effort to recover.
The plan is to increase Lula’s participation in events and interviews, with the objective of expanding the reach of government actions.
This strategy had already been designed earlier this year, with the arrival of Na Secom (Secretariat of Social Communication) of the Presidency and in the face of other episodes of crisis in the executive, but was not taken below.
At that moment, with wear and tear because of the fake news that viralized over Pix and the rise in food prices, Secom reinforced the desire to explore the petista’s image.
Sidônio presented a plan to enhance government communication and reverse the president’s fall in 90 days. At the time, when asked about research that registered low government approval, the minister suggested that they were looking for him after three months. Five months after, the president faces high rejection, with evaluation rates at the worst level of the term, released this week.
A survey commissioned by the Planalto Palace pointed out that the vast majority of respondents would like to hear the president more. In the interpretation of advisors, the result suggests that government messages have not reached the public and that there would be room for an offensive concentrated in Lula’s figure.
In this sense, they should be more frequent, according to two assistants of the president.
The government had already rehearsed other bets in that same direction.
In January, Lula summoned an interview. At that moment, Secom had expressed the intention to make this kind of meeting more often, which did not happen.
Last Tuesday’s interview was accompanied by Sidônio, who signs Lula as he followed a script in a document that led to his hand. After the president’s statements, assistants pointed out that they intend to resume that plan.
Lula’s team also speaks of broadening the president’s image linking to the launch and publicizing of government programs. There is a bet of executive members in social measures with appeal to recover the popularity of the petista.
Assistants talk about organizing the dissemination of new programs each month at least. One objective is to prevent one program from overshadowing another.
Recently, it was postponed for a week to avoid the proximity of this announcement by signing the provisional measure that expands the exemption to up to 60 million Brazilians.
Second, the negative evaluation of the government is 43%, and the positive 26%. They consider regular management 28%, and 3% do not know or did not respond.
Company survey about the also shows Lula in difficulty. The petista lost advantage and now tie technically in second round simulations against (Republicans), Ratinho Junior (PSD), Eduardo Leite (PSD) and Michelle Bolsonaro (PL).
Two ministers heard by the report stated that the numbers were expected by the government. They evaluate that the INSS scandal has neutralized the effort to recover the assessment of the president that had been made by the government in recent months.
The Quaest poll also pointed out that 31% of respondents said that the main responsible for illegal discounts is the “Lula government”, 14% blamed the INSS and 8%, the government ().
An assistant of the president argues that this 31% slice is equivalent to Bolsonaro’s faithful electorate and, therefore, this result would not draw attention. He acknowledges, however, that the low percentage of respondents who blame the previous management lights up, suggesting that the discourse adopted by the Plateau that it was not incorporated.
This petista ally states that one of the government’s main challenges is still the dispute on social networks, with the right ahead in this field.
Another strategy discussed by parliamentarians and government members is to reinforce Lula’s presence on trips throughout Brazil. The petista himself made public statements to combat what he classifies as “fake news industry.”
One minister says he recognizes the executive’s difficulty in transforming the outcome of government social programs and economic indices into positive numbers for petista management. He, stating that there is still time to reverse the scenario and betting on the programs that will still be launched by the executive.
In addition to the package quoted by Lula himself on Tuesday (3), such as the credit line for reforms of houses, this assistant cites measures that are still being discussed by parliamentarians and, therefore, have not yet impacted the popularity of the executive. Among them is the proposal for exemption from IR (Income Tax) for those who earn up to $ 5,000 per month.
Another petista assistant says he expects Lula’s popularity numbers to have a positive effect with and a consequent drop in food price. This same ally states that the improvement of the perception of the economy, indicated in this Wednesday’s research, brings a certain relief to the government and indicates that the negative perception of management can be reversed.
