Portugal Captain, Cristiano Ronaldo, poured tears of joy by winning his second Nations League title on Sunday, insisting that winning trophies with his country overcomes all club titles.
Ronaldo’s 138th goal in the second half, with the 40 -year -old striker, who was replaced, watching the field side while Portugal converted all five penalties to win the title.
The triumph, which left the five -time champion of the Champions League in tears, was Ronaldo’s third in the international scene, following his 2016 Euro champion medals and 2019 nations.
“What a joy. First for this generation, which deserved a title of this magnitude, to our families. My children came here, my wife, my brother, my friends,” he told Portuguese Sport TV.
“Winning for Portugal is always special. I have many titles in clubs, but nothing is better than winning by Portugal. They are tears. It is duty accomplished and a lot of joy,” he continued.
“Talking about Portugal is always a special feeling. Being captain of this generation is a source of pride. Winning a title is always the apex of a national team,” said the ace.
Cristiano Ronaldo’s future remains uncertain. On Saturday (07), he said that, which starts this month, despite being courted by clubs participating in the tournament.
