Former faithful ally of the former president and a prominent figure in the ideological wing of pockets, Weintraub also mocked the fact that Bolsonaro apologized to Minister Alexandre de Moraes, whom he has attached publicly several times during his term.

“I never apologized to them! I never denied what I said of them!” The former minister published, reinforcing the tone of breakup with Bolsonaro.

During the statement, the former president said he did not encourage acts of January 8, 2023 and sought to distance himself from undemocratic guidelines. He stated that there are “crazy” that call for military intervention and a new AI-5, and that the heads of the Armed Forces would never support an institutional rupture based on these requests.

“We repudiate all this. With all due respect, Doctor Paulo Gonet does not proceed that I have collaborated with January 8th. There is nothing mine there, encouraging that tail we repudiate,” Bolsonaro said during the statement.

Rupture

Bolsonaro’s statements deepen his cracks with part of his supporters, who for months advocated the thesis of ballot box and requested military intervention. During the protests after the 2022 elections, tracks with requests from a new AI-5 were displayed in acts performed across the country.

For figures such as Weintraub, the former president’s most conciliating stance on the Supreme Court represents a betrayal of the speech adopted during his mandate and promises made to his ideological basis.

Weintraub was Minister of Education between 2019 and 2020, leaving the government after conflicts with members of the Federal Supreme Court and the Allied base itself.
