Lula receives imperial princess from Japan on the plateau

Kako de Akishino has been in Brazil since June 5 to accompany an event in celebration of the 130th anniversary of Nipo-Brazilian Relations

The president (PT) received this Wednesday (11.Jun.2025) the imperial princess Kako of Akishino, from Japan, in the Planalto Palace. She is niece of the emperor, Naruhito.

The visit was made at the invitation of the Brazilian government, in order to “Strengthen the centenary partnership between the two nations”according to the petista publication on his Instagram page.

The Chief Executive to the Asian country from March 23-27 for a state visit.

Princess Kako of Akishino, 30, has been in Brazil since June 5 for the celebrations of 130 years of Japanese-Brazilian relations. Since arriving, he visited the states of Sao Paulo, Paraná and Mato Grosso do Sul.

The imperial princess was in Campo Grande to visit, on Tuesday (10.Jun), the Nipo-Brazilian Association of Campo Grande. He also had a reserved meeting with the governor of Mato Grosso do Sul, (PSDB).

This Wednesday (11.Jun), had a lunch with the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mauro Vieira, at the Itamaraty Palace, in Brasilia. In the morning, he visited the National Congress, where he was welcomed by the mayor, deputy (Republicans-PB), and received a series of honors.

The princess will still pass through Rio de Janeiro, on Thursday (12.jun). Then she returns to Paraná on June 14 and 15, to meet the governor of the state, (PSD), and visit the Iguaçu Falls.
