The Israeli president, Isaac Herzog, hoped that the attacks initiated this Friday by Israel against Iran change the trajectory of the region “towards a more peaceful and prosperous future.” In a statement distributed by his department after the launch of several waves of attacks against Iran, Herzog said that “Israel has the inherent right and the solemn duty to defend itself, and will always do so with determination and clarity.” The military operation against Iran, he says, pursues “neutralize an immediate and existential threat” for the Israeli people. “The international community has witnessed how, during the last decades, the Iranian regime, under a global terrorist empire, has continued to radicalize and destabilize the region with its allies, while working tirelessly to improve its military nuclear capacity and expand its Balistic missile arsenal,” he says.
