Landers explode of colors throughout the summer, but get flowers compact e continuously flower It is not so obvious. Few precautions are enough to make them make them maximum, even in the hottest months.

Lanana: Tricks for a compact and constant flowering all summer.

Those who have already had to do with Lanana know how surprising it can be … but also capricious. This plant does not seem to know the middle ground: either it turns into an explosion of colored flowers, or it appears like a tired and impetus bush. It is not uncommon to see specimens that in the early summer seem to promise well and then they are affected, losing vigor already in July. That’s why to know the right techniques to keep it compact and in bloom until September becomes crucial.

One of the most effective, and often underestimated practices, is pruning. There is no talk of great interventions, but of small regular gestures. Often it is avoided to prune with the idea that “so much rejects anyway”, but nothing more wrong. A cut at the right time can completely transform the appearance of the plant and prolong its beauty throughout the summer.

Lanana: the right pruning stimulates new flowers

Many think Lanana is a rustic plant that does not need too many care. In part it is true, but it is precisely from this belief that the most common problems are born: too long branches, radios, disordered hair. To avoid all this, the secret is only one: prune regularly. Cutting the apiches touched, even every 7-10 days, stimulates the plant to produce new side branches. And every new branch, you know, brings new flowers with it. The effect is double: a more compact form is maintained and flowering is prolonged.

Another little known detail is that La Lantana, if it is often pruned, tends to develop a more lignified and stable base. This makes the plant more robust and less subject to bending with the wind or suffering under the weight of the vegetation. And be careful: even if it may seem drastic, in the height of summer it is not wrong to make a more vigorous pruning, especially if the plant appears tired or has flourished too early.

Sun, water and fertilizer: the winning triad

Pruning is not enough alone, of course. To obtain abundant and continuous blooms, you must make sure the plant receive the right environmental conditions. The position of the pot, the temperature of the substrate and ventilation also play a key role. A place too closed or repaired, for example, can favor mold or the onset of parasites. And then, needless to deny it: observing the plant carefully helps to understand when to intervene and with what frequency. It is not only a matter of constant care, but also of small daily strategies. It takes little to make the difference between a suffering lantana and one in splendid shape. Often it is thought that sun and water are sufficient, but reality is much more nuanced. Even the details, such as the type of fertilizer or the moment of the year, count more than they believe. Here are some useful tips to be put into practice immediately:

  • Direct light for at least 6 hours a day: Lanana loves the full sun. In half shadows he risks producing many more green branches than flowers.
  • Regular watering, but without exaggerating: better to slightly dry the soil between one watering and the other, especially in pots.
  • Fertilizer full of potassium every 15 days: stimulates the formation of buds and strengthens the plant against the intense heat.
  • Light Paccome at the base: bark or coconut fiber help to maintain humidity and reduce thermal changes.
  • Good ventilation: essential to avoid mushrooms and insects, especially on the most sultry days.

The small mistakes that ruin the flowering of the Lanana

Sometimes it takes little to compromise the beauty of Landana. And often the most common mistakes go unnoticed. Among these there is leaving the dry flowers on the plant, which in addition to weighing down the general appearance, subtract useful energy for the new buds. Also exaggerating with water is a frequent error: the stagnation and roots that are too wet easily lead to rot, especially on sultry days.

Another common problem is related to the use of too small vessels. The roots of Landana grow quickly and a reduced space suffocates them, limiting the development of the hair and, consequently, the production of new flowers.

Another aspect not to be underestimated concerns insects. Although Lanana is quite resistant, aphids and white flies can compromise flowering. Better to keep an eye on the younger leaves and intervene with soft soap or Neem oil if necessary.

Ultimately, it is interesting to note that a few gestures are enough, repeatedly repeated, to transform an ordinary plant into a true queen of the terrace or garden.
