The first evacuations of Slovaks and citizens of other countries arrived from the Middle East

On Monday, the first evacuation of Slovak citizens together with citizens of other countries came to Slovakia on Monday. The evacuation flight came 30 Slovaks, including 25 tourists, five were employees of the Slovak Embassy. Among the repatriats were citizens of Poland, Czech Republic, Slovenia, Austria, Estonia, Spain and Malaysia. At a press conference after arrival, the head of Slovak diplomacy Juraj Blanár (Smer-SD) informed about it. He explained that the next evacuation flights would be the following days.

“We are already preparing another flight on Tuesday (June 17), which should be attended by the citizens of the Slovak Republic who are still reporting to us, but also the citizens of Austria, Czech Republic, Hungary, Latvia and France,” said Blanár. He added that on Wednesday (18 June) they will repatriate the family members of the diplomats who are still in Tel Aviv, along with the citizens of Spain, Romania, Italy and Latvia, Austria, the Czech Republic, Hungary and the Netherlands.

Planned flights

Interior Minister Matúš Šutaj Eštok (Voice-SD) added that on Tuesday the operation flies to Cyprus, on Wednesday there will be a flight to Amman. “Nine successful operations we have within the EURACARE – Flight and Shelter. I believe that we will continue this,” he said. At the same time, he thanked the employees of the representative office in Israel for coordination of evacuation.

The head of the defense department Robert Kaliňák (Smer-SD) explained that it is currently operating an aircraft of the Ministry of Defense in the Middle East space, which continues to make evacuation flights from Jordan towards Cyprus. “It actually comes to pick up some of the other passengers tomorrow, also composed of several nations, whether Slovaks, Czechs or Hungarians and other countries,” he said.
