Minister Alexandre de Moraes of the Federal Supreme Court (STF) voted on Friday (20) for the conviction of Diego Dias Ventura to 14 years in prison for participating in the scammer acts of January 8, 2023.
The minister’s vote was issued at the virtual judgment of the complaint filed by the Attorney General’s Office (PGR) against Diego, who was accused of acting as one of the leaders of the coup camp who was installed in front of the Army Barracks in Brasilia.
According to the Moraes demonstration, Diego acted in the coordination of camping of the camp and participated in the scammer acts in Praça dos Três Powers.
For the minister, the accused must also pay $ 30 million for damages caused by the depredation. The amount must be divided with the others convicted by the invasions.

“Defendant Diego Dias Ventura, after regular investigation, had his mobile device seized, being possible to extract content and audios shared in various groups of WhatsApp, in which he worked in the coordination of camp logistics installed in front of the Army Headquarters in Brasilia, promoted the collection of financial resources and articulated actions among the participants,” said the minister.
In 2023 Diego was arrested, but gained the right to respond to the process in freedom.
Voting occurs in the virtual plenary of the first class of the Court and will be open until Monday (30).

The votes of ministers Flávio Dino, Cármen Lúcia, Luiz Fux and Cristiano Zanin are missing.
Defense
In the demonstration sent to the Supreme Court, Diego Ventura’s lawyers defended acquittal for lack of evidence. According to the defense, the accused participated in a “peaceful manifestation in Brasilia” and has no bond with acts of violence practiced by others.
