Plums are a popular delicacy in our regions – whether fresh, dried, or processed into plum jam. Many of us perceive them primarily as tasty fruit, but few realize how many healing properties are hidden in them. Could you remember some?

These quite ordinary fruits, whether in fresh or dried form, are a real treasure that can support health from digestion to heart and bones. The inclusion of plums in the diet can be a very simple and tasty step towards better fitness. Let’s try to remember it …

Take care of the trees correctly according to the youtub video in the channel Hourly saddler:

Nutritious but low -calorie

Plums are very rich in nutrition, yet relatively low calorie. This is certainly very good news for all who hold a slim line or even want to drop a few kilograms. They are also an excellent source of vitamins and minerals that are essential for the proper functioning of the body. They mainly contain a “C”, which is a strong antioxidant and supports the immune system, as well as vitamin K, important for blood clotting and bone health. There is also vitamin A (more precisely beta-carotene, from which then in the body vitamin A is formed), beneficial for sight and skin.

Minerals “on everything”

Of the minerals in plums in quite large quantities we find potassium, which can help us with the necessary regulation of blood pressure and strengthen the proper activity of the heart. Furthermore, our body will also get copper and manganese, but one of the most important benefits of plums is their high fiber content, which is absolutely essential for our digestion. It is the combination of these nutrients with fiber that makes the plums fruit with invaluable health effects.

Body protection against radicals

An important healing feature of plums is their supply of antioxidants. These protect our body from damage to free radicals, resulting from stress, polluted environment or poor lifestyle. Free radicals are responsible for the so -called oxidative stress, which is associated with the development of chronic diseases such as heart disease, cancer or nervous system diseases. Take a few plums a day and the radicals will not come to you.

It also heals the color of plums

Plums, and especially the dark ones, are full of anthocyans, ie pigments that give plums their characteristic purple, red or blue color, and at the same time are strong fighters against inflammation and the aforementioned oxidative stress. Phenols in plums then contribute to their protective effects. Thanks to these antioxidants, plums help reduce inflammation in the body, help overall vitality and prevent many diseases.

Fiber on digestion

We know about fiber that it promotes healthy digestion and counteracts constipation. We also know that plums contain enough to work really well. “Plum fiber” even has two forms – as well as two effects in the digestive tract. While insoluble fiber increases the stool volume and speeds up its passage through the digestive tract, the soluble part of the fiber creates a gel that softens stools and facilitates emptying. What’s more from plums? Perhaps only sorbitol content with slightly laxative effects. We are lucky – we will find it in them.

Fixed bones thanks to plums?

What effects have we not yet gotten to? For example, it can be the function of strengthening bones due to potassium content and other minerals. This is an important report especially for the older of us who must slowly start to count on the increased risk of osteoporosis. Finally: Plums contribution to a successful effort to regulate weight is not at all small. Therefore, once plums appear on trees or shops or markets, do not hesitate for a minute. They should have their permanent place in the home pharmacy.
