Israeli air strikes hit the Iran’s nuclear research complex in Isfahan on Saturday, the country’s largest, the provincial deputy governor told semi-official news agency.

Several other areas of Isfahan province were also targets, but there were no reports of victims, the deputy governor said.

Iranian air defenses intercepted the Israeli attacks, but some managed to pass, according to the authority’s report.

“Most of the explosions heard during the attacks emanated from engagement of air defense systems, and others were due to enemy attacks,” said the official, quoted by the Fars report without identifying them.

The deputy governor said that there was no leakage of hazardous materials because of the attack, but residents were advised to avoid the area so that the rescue and crisis management teams could work.

According to Semioficial Mehr News Agency, Akbar Salehi, deputy head of security and law enforcement in Isfahan’s governor, said Israel has carried out attacks at various province locations, but the oil refinery was not hit.

Israel attacked the Isfahan Nuclear Technology Center in the early days of the conflict. An Officer of Israel’s Defense Forces said last Saturday (14) that the installation suffered significant damage. The International Atomic Energy Agency (AIEA) reported that four buildings at the scene were severely damaged, but a spokesman for Iran’s atomic energy organization said the damage was limited.
