Lavrov made these statements, answering a question about the statements of Polish Foreign Minister Radoslav Sikorski, who recently argued that a race between Russia and the West could cause President Vladimir Putin’s fall.

“Since it is so good in forecasts, it may be able to predict that a devastating increase in the defense budget of NATO countries, it is estimated that it will also lead to the collapse of the organization,” Lavrov said.

Defense spending accounts for 32% of the total costs of the federal budget of 2025.
