The president will take over this week the rotary presidency of the dome of the heads of state, which will take place in Buenos Aires, Argentina. It is expected that the president will board this Wednesday (2) to attend the inauguration ceremony in Argentina, which takes place between July 2 and 3. During its temporary mandate, the Brazilian government established as a priority the conclusion of the agreement between Mercosur and the European Union. In addition, the strengthening of the common external tariff, the incorporation of the automotive and sugar sectors into the block commercial regime and the advancement in measures to consolidate the customs union are also on the agenda.

Another prominent point will be the discussion about the incorporation of new codes into the list of exceptions into the common external tariff. During his stay in Argentina, Lula also plans to visit former President Cristina Kirchner, as reported by former media, Paulo Pimenta, in an interview with an Argentine radio. This visit reinforces the diplomatic ties between Brazil and Argentina, two of Mercosur’s main members. In addition to international commitments, President Lula’s agenda includes events in Brazil. On Wednesday, he will participate in the Bahia Independence Celebrations in Salvador, and will later travel to Rio de Janeiro to the BRICS summit, which will take place on July 7 and 8.
