Kaja Kallas appeals to China to stop undermining European security. The Euroblock criticizes Chinese companies for supporting Russian aggression in Ukraine.

Kaja Kallas, a senior EU representative for foreign affairs and security policy on Wednesday before the meeting with the Chinese Foreign Minister Wang, asked them Beijing to stop undermining European security. According to the AFP report, TASR reports this.

“China is not our opponent, but in the field of security, our relationships are becoming increasingly tense,” Kallas said, adding that Chinese companies are helping Russia to wage war against Ukraine. “Beijing is doing cyber attacks, interferes with democracy and trades unfairly. These steps are damaging European security and jobs,” she added.

Wang will visit Berlin and Paris after Brussels, just three weeks before the summit of EU officials and Chinese President Si Jin-Pching in Beijing.

AFP notes that the EU has opened the door to improving relations with China after US President Donald Trump has imposed duties on most of the United States’ business partners, including the European Union. However, instead of improving, commercial disagreements between Brussels and Beijing for the alleged unfair practices of China have only deepened.

Criticism of Russia’s support

The Euroblock still criticizes the flow of important technologies for the Russian army through China. “Enabling war in Europe and current efforts for more detailed relations with Europe is a contradiction that Beijing has to solve,” Kallas said.

According to the EU foreign policy chief, China should use its increasing power to enforce international law in the unstable world.

In an effort to put pressure on Beijing, the EU imposed sanctions on many Chinese companies accused of supporting the Moscow war effort. However, the Euroblock officials admitted that they failed to discourage Beijing strategic partnership with Russia.
