Trump announces that Israel "agreed with the conditions" for a ceasefire in Gaza

President Donald Trump announced on Tuesday that Israel “agreed with the necessary conditions” to end a ceasefire in Gaza, although it was not immediately clear if Hamas would accept the terms.

Two US Administration officials confirmed that Hamas had yet to agree with the deal. In a publication on the Social Truth, Trump said Patar and Egypt will deal with the issue.

“My representatives had a long and productive meeting with the Israelites about Gaza,” wrote Trump. “Israel agreed with the necessary conditions to finalize the 60 -day ceasefire, during which we will work with all parts to end the war. The Qatar and the Egyptians, who worked hard to help bring peace, will present this final proposal. For the sake of the Middle East, that the Hamas accepts this agreement, because the situation will not get better.

According to a source familiar with the matter, CNN previously reported that Qatar responsible for Hamas and Israel on Tuesday a new proposal for a 60-day ceasefire, which is supported by the Trump administration.

The proposal was finalized after months of efforts behind the scenes led by President Donald Trump’s envoy-special, Steve Witkoff, the source said. The proposal was presented on the same day as Israel’s Minister of Strategic Affairs, Ron Dermer, visited Washington, DC for meetings with high representatives of the Trump administration.

The new proposal comes a few days after Qatar helped mediate a ceasefire between Iran and Israel after the US and Israel attacks on the Iranian nuclear program, and months after a first ceasefire proposal supported by the Trump administration for Gaza to have been rejected by Hamas.

One source told CNN that the new version – in which the Cataris also worked – tried to take into account Hamas concerns about the previous proposal. During the ceasefire, Israeli hostages would be released in exchange for Palestinian prisoners, the same source added.

The White House did not comment on the details of the proposal, which were reported before Trump’s publication on the Social Truth.

Trump is expected to meet on Monday with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who, according to CNN, was pondering whether he intended a ceasefire or intensify the attacks with Gaza. An Israeli military official told CNN that Israel had not achieved all his war goals, but as Hamas forces diminished and hidden, it became more difficult to effectively achieve what remains of the militant group.

Netanyahu said on Sunday that many opportunities opened ”following Israel’s military operations in Iran, including the possibility of bringing home the remaining hostages in Gaza.

Trump assured journalists that it would be “very firm” in Netanyahu discussions at the meeting planned for next week at the White House and predicted that the prime minister wanted to end the war.

“He wants to. I can tell you that he wants. I think we will reach an agreement next week,” Trump reiterated.

But even with a new proposal on the table, reaching an agreement on a ceasefire remains a big challenge. Hamas has long advocated a permanent ceasefire, so it is not clear if it would agree with a temporary truce of 60 days. Hamas also continues to maintain its central demand that the war must end and that it would have to remain in power, which Israel will not allow, said another source familiar with the subject.

However, there have been some nominations that Hamas is willing to show some mild in their hardline positions, the source concluded.
