A serious traffic accident resulted in the death of motorcyclist José Rocha de Melo, 67, on Saturday morning (5), on BR-364, near the entrance of the Santo Afonso neighborhood, in the second district of Rio Branco.

According to witnesses, Jose was driving a red Yamaha YBR 125 motorcycle, red, and plaque OXP-7609, towards Rio Branco-Porto Velho, when he tried to overtake a gas company trailer. During the maneuver, he lost control of the motorcycle, crashed and was run over, being stuck under the vehicle. The impact hit the victim’s abdominal region.
The driver of the trailer remained at the scene until the authorities arrived. Teams from the Mobile Emergency Care Service (Samu) were called and sent basic and advanced support ambulances. José suffered a cardiorespiratory arrest, and the professionals tried to revive him for about 30 minutes, but he could not resist his injuries and died inside the ambulance.

Agents of the Federal Highway Police (PRF) attended the scene, isolated the area and recorded the occurrence. The driver of the trailer was heard and released. Technical expertise was not called.
The motorcycle was delivered to the victim’s family.
