Lille – Belgian Jasper Philipsen secured the opening victory and the first yellow jersey of the Tour de France on Saturday. After 185 km with start and finish in Lille in the sprint of a larger group, the 27-year-old celebrated his tenth tour stage victory. Defending champion Tadej Pogacar and Jonas Vingegaard also made it into the top field at one of the dreaded wind edges.
