Serbian Novak Djokovic, who tries to reach his 25th Grand Slam title, went a step forward towards this goal on Saturday (5), defeating his compatriot Momir Kecmanovic and qualifying for the round of 16 Wimbledon. The duel marked its 100th victory in the London tournament.
Djokovic closed the game in 3 sets at 0, with partials of 6-3, 6-0 and 6-4, in one hour and 47 minutes.
Novak Djokovic, who hasn’t raised any trophy since he was Olympic champion at Paris-2024 games, also seeks his eighth title in Wimbledon. The last of them was in 2022, before losing the next two finals to Spaniard Carlos Alcaraz.
At 38, the veteran became the third tennis player, between men and women, to reach the 100 wicedon mark in Wimbledon after Martina Navratilova (120) and Roger Federer (105).
His first victory in the grass of the All England Club took place in 2005 over Argentine Juan Monaco.
