The Brazilian audiovisual preservation program recognizes preservation as a strategic value in the affirmation of the identity of the nation, culture and sovereignty. It provides for work in articulation with states and municipalities to value works and collections of historically invisible social groups, respecting regional differences and recognizing Brazilian inequalities and diversity.
The initiative also promotes the presence of preservation specialists in the formulation and implementation of policies for the preservation of Brazilian audiovisual and will act to spread the diversity of Brazilian audiovisual heritage in the national and international territory.
The National Audiovisual Archives Network is born with the mission of proposing a governance model that promotes the integration of public and private institutions to preserve audiovisual cultural heritage.
It will be constituted, by voluntary adherence, by public and private institutions that articulate the preservation of audiovisual in Brazil, based on democratization, decentralization and diversity.
Among the objectives is the support for the development of guidelines that help institutions to establish collection, diffusion policies, risk management plans, programs, projects and partnerships for institutional growth.
Inventory
The audiovisual preservation program will implement the National Inventory of Audiovisual Cultural Goods that aims to identify and catalog individual works and Brazilian audiovisual collections.
The inventory will be structured by the Audiovisual Secretariat of the Ministry of Culture, together with the Brazilian Cinematheque, and will constitute a system of identification, registration and mapping of audiovisual works and collections with recognized historical, artistic and ethnographic value.
It will expand the information that make up the existing filmographies in institutions such as Cinematic and Public Archives, public and private educational institutions, Brazilian private collections and institutions.
