The devastating floods hit the center of Texas with a tragic balance of 59 victims. Among the missing are 27 girls from the summer camp, which was devastated by unusually intense rain.
The number of flood victims that hit several districts in the central part of the US state Texas on Friday increased to at least 59. Texas Vice -Governor Dan Patrick said it on Sunday, AFP said.
Most of the victims were reported before the Kerr district, where at least 43 people lost their lives. There are 15 children and 28 adults, while five children and 12 adults have not yet been identified.
One person died in Kendall district, four people died in the Travis district and at least four people and at least four people. A 62-year-old woman died in San Angelo, whose body was found, according to a local police, “several blocks” from her flooded car.
Girls from camp are still missing
The devastating floods in the area northwest of the Texas City of San Antonio caused a storm, during which a few months of precipitation fell in a short time. As a result, the level of the Guadalupe River increased by less than eight meters in less than an hour.
