Intense rains will reach the center of Texas in the United States for one day, making it difficult for rescue efforts after extreme floods in the region that left at least 82 people dead and dozens missing.

Although night has passed quietly, the risk of heavy rainfall will increase on Monday (7), with up to 100 millimeters falling into a large area and some isolated points receiving up to 250 millimeters, the National Meteorology Service said. Flood warnings and alerts cover Texas’s heart, including its Austin capital and the city near San Antonio.

“Unfortunately, there will be another round of storms today in this region,” said Allison Santorelli, meteorologist at the US Time Prediction Center. “We hope that until tomorrow and especially on Wednesday the conditions will start to calm down.”
