The tension between Israel and Iran escalated after the Israeli attacks on Iranian nuclear and military facilities, leading to a 12-day war and interrupting the planned nuclear program interviews.
“There was no request for a meeting for the US side,” said Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmál Bakaki, according to Tasnim’s news agency.
Trump announced on Monday without giving the exact time or place that negotiations with Iran are scheduled. “We planned interviews with Iran. They want to talk,” he told reporters in the White House, where he met Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. “They want to meet. They want to agree on something. Now they are completely different than they were two weeks ago,” he added.
Israel and Iran in a military conflict
Israel and Iran attacked against each other in the 12-day war, which was started by Israel on 13th June by attacks on Iranian nuclear facilities and military officials in order to prevent Tehran to produce nuclear weapons. Iran has denied such an intention several times.
Israel began to attack just a few days before the planned next round of interviews between Tehran and Washington on the nuclear program of Iran. These have been suspended since then.
