The mayor removed from, (Somos), arrested preventively in June in the operation that investigates the sale of sentences in the Superior Court of Justice () suffered a heart attack at the headquarters of the Military Police, at dawn on Tuesday (8). He felt severe chest pain at dawn and had to be rushed to the Tocantins Military Police General, where he was detained, to the Palmas General Hospital. Siqueira Campos was accompanied by his cardiologist, who accompanied him to the hospital, where the acute myocardial infarction was found.
According to a statement from Palmas City Hall, Siqueira Campos had to undergo emergency surgery and is recovering. The forecast is that he remains at rest for the next 24 hours. “The up-to-date information indicates that surgery has gone through normal and that Mayor Eduardo is reacting well to the first postoperative moments,” said the city.
Siqueira Campos has been arrested preventively since June 27, the target of Operation Sisamnes, the Federal Police. At the time, the mayor’s advisory said he “received the decision with serenity” and will collaborate with the investigation. “Everything will be clarified,” says the note.
“The investigation revealed evidence that confidential information would be being accessed in advance, articulated and passed on to investigated, with the involvement of public agents, lawyers and external operators,” said the PF. According to the Federal Police, the leaks were “systematic”, with direct impact on the corporation’s operations. The inquiry points out that the information was passed on to protect allies, frustrate police actions and build networks of influence.
The mayor of Palmas had already been searching for another stage of the investigation. At the time, he denied involvement with leaks and said he does not maintain privileged sources in courts or any other instance of the judiciary.
At a news conference, Siqueira Campos stated that he knew what the investigation is about, but denied that he leaked sensitive information. “I’m a source of a lot of people. I think you know how much I know or don’t know, I just know what they say around. I don’t have any privileged information,” said the mayor.
The alleged scheme of sales of court decisions, according to the PF, would involve lawyers, lobbyists, businessmen, advisors, chiefs of cabinet and magistrates of state courts.

Eduardo Siqueira Campos was elected mayor of Palmas in 2024 with 78,673 votes, equivalent to 53.03% of the valid. He defeated, in the second round, the pocketist Janad Valcari (PL), reversing the scenario after the opponent was led the vote in the first round.
The investigated mayor was born in (SP) and is 65 years old. Graduated in Pedagogy, Siqueira Campos began his political career in 2006, when he ran for a senator, but was not elected. In later elections, he was elected state deputy twice.
