WASHINGTON (Reuters)-United States President Donald Trump said on Saturday that he could revoke US citizenship of the Rosie O’Donnell talk show host after she criticized the way her government dealt with time forecast agencies after deadly floods in Texas.
This was the latest invested in a dispute of years that the two crashed into social media.
“Because Rosie O’Donnell is not in the interest of our great country, I’m seriously thinking about taking off her citizenship,” Trump wrote on his social truth platform, invoking a deportation logic that the government has used in attempts to remove protesters born abroad of the country.

“It is a threat to humanity and must remain in the wonderful country of Ireland if they want it. God bless America!” He added.
According to US legislation, a president cannot revoke the citizenship of a US-born American. O’Donnell was born in the state of New York.
O’Donnell, a longtime target of Trump’s insults and blows, moved to Ireland earlier this year with his 12-year-old son after the president’s second term. She said in a Tiktok video in March that she would return to the US “when she is safe for all citizens to have equal rights in the United States”;

O’Donnell responded to Trump’s threat in two posts on his Instagram account, saying that the US president opposes her because she “is in direct opposition to everything he represents.”
Trump’s disdain by O’Donnell dates back to 2006, when O’Donnell, comedian and host of The View at the time, mocked Trump because he dealt with controversy related to a Miss US winner, of which Trump owned.
Trump’s last blow to O’Donnell seems to have been in response to a Tiktok video she posted this month mourning the 119 July flood deaths in Texas and blaming Trump’s widespread courts in environmental and scientific agencies involved in the forecast of great natural disasters.

“What a story of horror in Texas,” said O’Donnell in the video. “And you know, when the president destroys all early warning systems and the government’s weather forecasting capacity, these are the results that we will start to see daily.”
The Trump administration, as well as local and state authorities, have faced increasing questions about whether more could have been made to protect and alert residents before the floods in Texas, which occurred with surprising speed in the early hours of the US Independence Holiday on July 4 and killed at least 120 people, including dozens of children.
On Friday, Trump visited Texas and defended the government’s response to the disaster, saying that their agencies “did an incredible job, given the circumstances.”
