Images captured by drone show the damage caused by the fire that completely destroyed Tomorrowland’s main stage, two days before the start of the largest electronic music festival in Europe. The incident took place on the afternoon of Wednesday in Boom, Belgium, where the event gathers over 400,000 people from around the world annually.
The festival spokeswoman, Debby Wilmsen, said many of the workers were devastated to see the main stage completely destroyed as “it took years to be built with so much love and passion.”
Despite the bleak scenario, the organization has ensured that the festival will take place as planned. In a statement, those responsible for the event confirmed that the “Dreamville” camping park will open this Thursday, as expected: “Tomorrow we expect 38,000 festivals in Dreamville, in our campsite. We are really looking forward to it,” said Wilmsen.
“Let’s make this a great festival. There will be no main stage. But we hope to be able to do something else, although it can not advance much about it,” he added.
Tomorrowland runs from July 18 to 20 and July 25-27. The organization guarantees to be focused on finding solutions so that the event remains a memorable celebration of electronic music.
