Montero, on the imputation of Montoro: “One more minister of the PP that has to respond in court”

The first vice president of the Government and Minister of Finance, María Jesús Montero, stressed this Thursday that Cristóbal Montoro has become “one more minister” of the PP’s government stages in Spain that has to “respond in court” on “very serious” facts that are imputed to him.

In media care before participating in a summer course of the University of Malaga, the socialist minister has thus pronounced questions from journalists after a judge in Tarragona has accused the former PP Finance Minister, Cristóbal Montoro, for allegedly changing laws to benefit gas companies.

“One more minister, of all we have already met from the governments of José María Aznar, who pass and have to ask and have to respond in the courts,” said Montoro’s successor at the head of the Ministry of Finance when asked about this imputation.

“Justice has to investigate until the end if the facts that are imputed, which are very serious facts, really correspond” with reality, added the Minister of Finance before apostillating that, “at this time, we can only, of course, collaborate with everything that is required, with everything that is asked.”

Similarly, the Vice -Secretary General of the PSOE has considered “very important that explanations are given”, and in this regard he has defended that “the Socialist Party, throughout this period, provided that a high position has been incurred in some judicial procedure, has given explanations, has transferred everything that he believed convenient so that citizens could be accounts”.

And he added that he believes that he “corresponds” to the national president of the PP, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, and the leader of the Andalusian PP and president of the Board, Juanma Moreno, “to give accounts of what has happened and what is happening in the court favor certain interests ”.

At that point, Montero has argued that it is “fundamental for citizens to know that the Popular Party defends the interests of a few”, and this does so “legislatively, with their political proposals”, and “every time it is pronounced”, with their “opposite vote” in that case, to initiatives such as “upload pensions” or “lower taxes to the middle class” and “raise them to energy.”

“It is a way of acting,” added the general secretary of the PSOE-A, who has considered that the PP “is on the side of the privileged, of those who have the most”, so that it makes “available to their interests.” And “this is what is being seen from all stages” of the government of José María Aznar and Mariano Rajoy, which “have led” that “the State apparatus was put at the service of those minority interests that do not defend the general majority, and that they threaten that general interest,” according to María Jesús Montero.
