A woman has retired after 50 years of working in a nursery in a position that once told her that she could not get because she did not have the appropriate grades, as published by the .
Sheila Dwyer began working at Nazareth House Day Nursery in Lancaster, the United Kingdom, in 1975 and said “I simply knew I didn’t want to work in a store or a factory.” The 66 -year -old woman said retirement was a “great decision,” but knew that “it was time to leave.”
The woman celebrated her retirement with a graduation ceremony with her class. Nazareth Care, who manages the nursery, thanked Dwyer for his dedicated service and said that the staff and children would “miss a lot.”
Dwyer began working on the care of children at age 16, despite the fact that school teachers told him that his notes were not good enough to be a nursery teacher.
“When I was at school they let me go to work in a game group, but my notes were low and they said that I could probably not achieve my goal of being a nurse,” he said. After five decades he said he had “definitely” demonstrated that they were wrong.
