The deputy mayor of, Colonel (PL), fought the release of an amendment of $ 200,000 from an allied base councilor of (MDB) when he was interimly occupied the city in April.

The appeal, which was intended for a volleyball symposium, was released by Nunes Management a month later.

Leader of Republicans in the City Council, Samson Pereira nominated the money for the 1st Volleyball Symposium, organized by the Family of Sport Institute.

The event, online and in person, would take place on April 25 lasting four hours (from 12h to 16h). The goal would be to train physical education professionals to work in the sports job market.

According to the panel, Mello Araújo, who received the request for release from the amendment after the date of the volleyball symposium and, therefore, decided to reject it. He also evaluated the value of the amendment as an exorbitant. Then he sent assistants to the scene to investigate if the event had really happened. At the time, the team received a negative from employees.

The episode caused dissatisfaction between Nunes Base leaders in the House, who, under reserve, complained about the supervision of allied amendments.

A month later, on May 22, the funds were released, already with Nunes back. The event was broadcast live on June 26 and, during the opening, the councilman’s amendment was cited in the thanks.

Sought, the Municipal Sports Secretariat states that the 1st Volleyball Symposium was duly held on June 26, 2025, in the auditorium of the Olympic Training and Research Center (COTP), according to the work plan approved in a funding term with the Family of Sport Institute.

“The formalization and execution of the project have fully respected the procedures provided for in federal law and municipal standards and are supported by technical and legal opinion, inspection report, photographic records, among other documents,” he says.

“Initially scheduled for April, the event was readjusted and relocated, using a remaining balance of previously available parliamentary amendment, without the need for new release of resources,” he added.

Sought, the councilman confirms that other amendments were used in his name to perform the symposium. “There were 400 registrants, of these 400 subscribers participated 349, including is on Youtube,” he says.

Mello Araújo starred in controversies during the period in which he commanded the city interimly. He dismissed three staff at the Municipal Secretariat of Human Rights and Citizenship. He also advanced in the transformation of one – the mayor wanted a garden.
