Host of civil society entities scheduled for Friday (25), the director of the Largo São Francisco Law School, Celso Campilongo, says that the demonstration goes beyond the defense of national sovereignty.
“It is a defense of the international order, of international law. Today is Brazil, tomorrow can be any other country,” he says.
The motivation for the demonstration is the trade taxation measures announced by US President Donald Trump, as well as the cancellation of the US visas of STF ministers for an alleged “persecution” to former President Jair Bolsonaro. Therefore, says Campilongo, the act must have a strong character of defense of the independence of the judiciary.
“The tool for this offense against sovereignty has been to despise the Supreme, asking the Supreme to be ignored, discarded, and this cannot accept,” says the director.
The inspiration for the event is a great act of defending democracy that took place at the scene in August 2022, when the reelection of (PL) was seen as a threat of institutional rupture. At the time, the courtyard of the college was packed, and there was concentration of people in front of the building, outside.
This time, the proportions should be smaller, starting at the chosen place, the college’s noble hall.

According to Campilongo, because it is an act of civil society, they are not being called STF ministers or members of the Lula administration. There may be the presence of former court meters and former Ministry of Justice Office, however.
