“The conference consolidates itself as a space for democratic formulation and qualified listening of the demands of the black population of São Paulo and for the respective formulation of public policies incident on the listed questions. For this reason, it is understood as essential to the full guarantee of material conditions that enable popular participation in the event,” says the representation.
The event is officially called every four years by the State Government.
According to PSOL, 72% of the 622 delegates are from the interior of the state and need help to participate. The representation asks the Public Prosecution Service to propose a judicial measure to guarantee the cost of expenses. The bench states that the demand for financial aid was denied in a meeting with representatives of the State Secretariat.
In a statement, the Secretariat of Justice and Citizenship, responsible for the event, “reiterates its commitment to legality and efficiency in the use of public resources.”
“According to SJC Resolution No. 55/2025, published on May 27, 2025, the budget limits were defined for the 5th State Conference on Racial Equality Promotion. The folder is the cost of the site, infrastructure and food during the official hours of the event. Personal expenses are the sole responsibility of the participants,” he said.
