Montenegro believes that TC will validate Foreign Law and reject "A or B AGENDA"

Luís Montenegro spoke this Saturday in Ovar, to mark the 50th anniversary of social democratic youth. He criticized the “media pressure” on sending to the Constitutional Court of the New Foreigners Law and assured that they are the immigrants themselves who want the regulated country.

PSD President Luís Montenegro said on Saturday believe that the Constitutional Court (TC) will validate the amendments to the Foreign Law, rejecting the government to act according to the “A or B Agenda”.

“I am convinced that the Constitutional Court, despite all this media pressure that seems to want to induce the court itself to decide in a certain sense, will give a constitutional judgment to what was approved at the Assembly of the Republic,” said Luís Montenegro in an event that marks the 51st anniversary of JSD in Esmoriz (Ovar district of Aveiro).

The Prime Minister also referred to the sending, by the President of the Republic Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, Something Louis Montenegro considered “a perfectly normal procedure”.

“If that [validação da constitucionalidade pelo TC] Not happening, the world will not end, Portugal will not end, and our momentum of regulating immigration will not end either, “said the PSD leader, in the face of the applause of the PSD and JSD militants, reaffirming” that it will not even happen. “

Previously, Luís Montenegro had also rejected that the government is acting based on agendas from other parties.

“These days, it is talked so much that we theorize so much what we are doing, whether it is the A schedule, if it is the B schedule, whether it is more here or more to there: the agenda is ours, so that it is very clear. It is what is in our electoral program and in the government program,” he said.

According to the leader of the PSD, this is the agenda “that interests the Portuguese economy and is the one that also matters to the values of humanism and dignity”, also saying that “interest to immigrants”, to whom he went.

“Regulated immigration is thinking, first, in immigrants themselves. That’s why I walk on the street and I am often approached with special enthusiasm, respect, adhesion and support by many immigrants,” said Luís Montenegro.

The prime minister said that you need younger Portuguese in Portugal but also “more people” in the labor market and in the economy.

“But have no doubt: more regulation, more rules, consequences for those who do not fulfill the rules is what demands immigrants, those who are here in good faith, with good spirit and their legalized situation or in a position to be legalized,” he said.
