For the American, the carioca club is a very valuable asset and its intention is to separate it from the rest of its European business.

The question came about because Texor is facing a legal issue in the United States regarding the company Eagle Football Holdings, which manages several football clubs. Among them, Botafogo and Lyon from France.

The investor Iconic Sports, who helped textor in her acquisitions, asks in the American court to full control of Eagle. The entrepreneur ensures that he is the majority partner, but that his plans are to take Botafogo out of this administration.
“Several stories that you read in France that say Lyon has paid for Botafogo’s titles are wrong,” said Texor.
“We made money from titles, players’ sales and because we are good in business. Botafogo finances Europe, and not the other way around. We are an organization audited by companies of the largest caliber, we have done it all to enter IPO, there is no debate. There is no financial problem. We are financing Europe. I want to separate Botafogo from the European part, but this is with the Eagle board.”

The American sees a great potential in Botafogo and does not want to risk losing control of the Rio club, as can happen to Lyon.
“I want to buy Botafogo back and get it out of Eagle. I will continue to be the owner of Eagle, but I think it would be better for Botafogo to be separated,” he said.

The fact is that since the businessman arrived at the Rio club, Botafogo has changed level. It has played the main titles for some seasons. In the previous one, especially, he earned the Brasileirão and the unprecedented Copa Libertadores.
